Dr. Mohammed Awad is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Head of the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at UMC Victoria Hospital, Kampala, a position he has held since June 2024. Prior to this, he served as Clinical Service Director and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Alsalam International Medical Centre, Kampala, from February to June 2024.

Between 2022 and 2024, Dr. Awad practised as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Gezira Centre of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Wad Madani, Sudan, and from 2021 to 2022 held the same role at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif, Saudi Arabia.

From 2015 to 2021, he served within Sudan’s Ministry of Health system as a Specialist and later Senior Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon, while also undertaking Hospital Director and Deputy Director responsibilities within the Gezira State Teaching Hospitals. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Registrar in Orthopaedic Surgery with Sudan’s Federal Ministry of Health Hospitals (2009–2015), followed by Medical Officer positions at Wad Madani Teaching Hospital and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (2006–2009), and completed his House Officer internship from 2005 to 2006.
